I know it’s not cricket, but superfast broadband is now available to most people in Buckhorn Weston served by the Templecombe exchange  –  or for those in Kington Magna, on the East Stour Exchange.  To get any advantage you usually need to be within around 1 mile or less (road distance) from your green cabinet but I’m getting 25Mbit/sec at just over the mile from the cabinet outside our cricket ground.

Remember you will have to sign up with your existing (or another) Internet Service Provider to transfer over to the fibre-based service.  Check with your ISP (or on the contractor’s website Openreach) to find out if your phone line might be able to get a faster fibre-based internet.  Will it cost more?  Well it all depends as it will be a new contract but I have heard of people getting it for the same or even cheaper price because they were on an old (expensive) tariff or the ISP is doing a special offer.  As always, it is best to talk to your potential ISP.

It’s been a long wait but this Dorset Council funded project is a year ahead of the original schedule, and around 20 times faster!!!
