Reports 2011

‘Wet Wicket Provides Result’

Once again Buckhorn fielded a much changed side from the previous League match against Plush.  This was to benefit Buckhorn as it meant they had more than enough seam bowlers on a seamer-friendly pitch.  The only option, if you won the toss, was to bowl first and then hope you could chase; however Adam B duly lost the toss, therefore Buckhorn were put into bat. ‘Simon blasts ton, as Buckhorn dominate in the rain’

Buckhorn arrived at Plush expecting a rain-affected game, if there was to be a game at all.  The weather may have been gloomy and uninspiring, but the setting was picturesque and would be the scene for an exciting game.  Adam went out to the toss, hoping to bowl, but Plush won and put Buckhorn into bat. “Buckhorn storm through Stalbridge”

Stalbridge 74 all out (25.3 overs)            Buckhorn Weston 79 for 1 (10.5 overs)

The game was set to be an improvement on last year’s fixture, as rain was not forecast.  The ground looked in excellent condition, with both head and deputy curators putting in lots of work during the week.  The wicket looked in better shape than at any point in April last season, and looked set to facilitate a higher-scoring match than the one that actually transpired.
