As ever, we were warmly welcomed at Shillingstone, both by the weather and by our opponents. Hugh and Margaret Shackell are amazing stalwarts of junior cricket in North Dorset: over 1/2 term they ran a schools competition involving over 200 children – and that included preparing 12 pitches, some on the football ground!
Anyway, our Buckeroos continued their winning ways with a very assured performance. Shillingstone batted first and their innings never really got off the ground due to an excellent all round effort. The wicket takers were Leo and Euan with 2 a piece, Charlie with 1 and a runout. Our last 4 overs went for only 7 runs and 2 wides. Felix took an excellent catch. Cass, Oliver and Ned all conceded less than 3 runs an over – and many fewer wides were bowled by all!!!! Well done Coaches Tommy and Simon!
When we batted, Felix and Fergus put on 21 and Leo and Cass a further 16 before a belligerent innings of 29 from Charlie put the game safely in the bag. He was ably supported by Oliver, before Euan and Ned put on 28 for the final pair.
Fergus kept wicket very well and Skippered most calmly.
Well done all, Robin
