News 2016

Our Buckhorn U9s bravely ventured to Shillingstone for their first League match of the season and came away with a pulsating one run victory!

Batting first, Buckhorn compiled 293 – 1 (not bad eh?) with double figure contributions from Milo Mounde, Henry Andrews and Cass Tatman.  Our fielding was then excellent and a last over wicket from our Skipper Charlie Collins sealed the win.  Fraser Wilson, Harry Morland, Oliver Price and Ned Marshall all did their bit too, with either ball or bat.

It is a real pleasure to be involved with them all and we are going to have a lot of fun this season!

My thanks to James and Martin for the help with scoring and umpiring – it was a real help and much appreciated.  Thanks also to Hugh Shackell and Shillingstone for the game and their sportsmanship – cricket as it should be played.

And good luck to 1st X1 against Dorchester Casuals tomorrow.

Robin

Due to the ground not being ready to play on yet, this Sunday will see a nets session starting at 10:30, this will also serve as the registration session as well followed by a drink in the pub. Registration forms can be obtained here for printing and completion if possible prior to Sunday please. Subscription fees are listed on the registration form, you need to be registered to be covered by the clubs insurance.

Fixture cards are now available either in the Stapleton Arms, or via Malcolm and will be available on Sunday

Look forward to seeing you all on Sunday!

We will have an Adult Indoor Nets session at Wincanton Sports Centre this Sunday 17th April 10:00-12:00.  This should be the last indoor session, we hope to be outside for the 24th April!

A fantastic turn out at the Groundhog day saw a dozen helping hands, ranging from the very young to the not so young!  Nets were erected, fencing repaired, artificial wicket cleaned and covers that had been blown on top of each other earlier in the week straightened out.

Thank you to everyone that attended for their sterling efforts!

Buckhorn Weston Village Community Trust will soon be fitting a Defibrillator in the centre of the village.  Two 30 minute training sessions will be held at Buckhorn Weston Village hall on:

Sunday 24th April at 6pm, and
Saturday 30th April at 11am

Everyone welcome including club members & regular visitors – full details on www.bwvct.org.uk
